Country Comments

Estonia’s population and consumption are currently sustainable. Estonia has had below replacement fertility for four decades and as a result its population growth rate has remained relatively level. Pollution of the environment has been cut considerably since 1990 following the economic collapse and as a result of investments in the environment. However logging concessions are causing greater deforestation of the country.

Reproductive health services covering childbirth, pregnancy, and women's and girls' health as a whole are important to Estonia. The high-quality work of the Estonian Sexual Health Society has proved an essential force in supporting reproductive rights in Estonia in the 2000s.

A few years ago the government in its attempt to spur greater economic growth began paying families who had three or more children $300-$400 a month and the World Economic Forum reported 600 more births in 2018 over 2017.
